Acoustic Treatment for a Home Theater in Indiranagar, Bangalore

Acoustic Treatment was carried out on the walls using a 6 layer system consisting of wood wool board finished with Fabric Finish. The process involved the installation of a G.I Partition framework comprising of Floor and Stud Channels. The hollow areas were then filled with an infill of 50mm Thickness Polywool insulation (Polyester Wadding) of 1000 GSM – 20 KG Density / m3. After this process, 18mm Thick JITEX Acoustic Wood wool Board, was fixed on to the GI Partition channel with Self Drilling Screws and finished with 12mm Thick PVC Fabric gripper track System, 12mm PU foam and Polyester Fabric.

The design comprised of 18 Inch Thick Fabric Columns installed at a distance of 4ft from each other. The 18 Inch columns were covered with Dark Brown Fabric and the 4 feet Rectangular columns were finished with a Brownish Yellow color. Both the colors created a perfect contrast and complimented the other elements of the room. The Acoustic wall Panels were installed at a distance of 100mm from the wall in order to incorporate Wall Speakers on to the 18 Inch Columns. With good Focus and Ambient lighting, the design and fabric colors portrayed a classic Theatrical outlook. Thus, giving equal importance to both Acoustic Treatment and Aesthetics.

The False Ceiling mainly comprised of a Gypsum Board False Ceiling approach. A framework of G.I Gypsum Channels (Ceiling Section, Intermediate Section, Perimeter channel and Ceiling L-angles) was installed with an infill of 25mm Thickness Polywool insulation (Polyester Wadding) of 500 GSM – 20 KG Density / m3. After this process, 12.5mm Thick Saint Gobain Gyproc Gypsum Board was fixed on to the GI channel with Self Drilling Screws and the Joints were finished with Jointing Tape and Jointing Compound.

The total area was divided in to three equal parts; with each equal part being 6 Inches below from each other with a Cove Light provision. This not only helped in improving the Ambient lighting but also complimented with the Acoustic walls as well.
