ABOUT FALSE CEILING
False ceiling is a fitted ceiling that is hung below the original ceiling of a room or home. It is usually suspended by metal frames and gives the illusion of a lower ceiling. This is done to give the ceiling a smoother and even finish; hiding any beams or unevenness in the ceiling. Feature or Ambient lights can also be added to the false ceilings to improve the aesthetics of the room. False ceilings are done for various purposes; such as Aesthetics, Sound proofing or Acoustics, enclosure of beams, AC dusts and other wiring and electrical work.
There are various types of products that are used for false ceilings; depending on the requirements of the customer. They can be used in both residential and commercial spaces. False ceilings can be majorly classified into three categories – Boards, Grid Ceilings and Cornices. You can use other acoustic materials such as Wood Wool Board, PET Polyester boards for better Acoustic Treatment (More Details can be found under Acoustic Treatment Page)
False Ceiling Boards
False Ceiling boards are available in various types; however the framework and channels used is the same. Standard installation process for false ceiling includes creating a framework comprising of Galvanized Iron sections (Ceiling Section, Intermediate channel, Perimeter channel and Ceiling angle). Once the GI framework is installed, the desired board is fixed using Self Drilling screws. A variety of boards are available depending on the application such as Standard Gypsum Board, Fire resistant Boards, Moisture resistant Board, Waterproof Boards, Soundproof Boards, Acoustic Boards etc. These Boards can be cut and molded into any shape and size during installation in order to make the ceiling look unique and elegant.
TYPES OF FALSE CEILING BOARDS AND PLANKS
Gypsum Board
Gypsum boards are mainly made of gypsum and additives and covered in paper. They are suitable only for interior applications. Gypsum boards are light weight and can be cut into various shapes and designs to give a more aesthetically pleasing look. They can be painted in any color to match the scheme of the room. Gypsum Board False ceiling is the most common kind of false ceiling used in residential projects. Any kind of Light can be added to the boards to give the space a livable and more appealing look.

Fibre Cement Board
Fiber Cement Board is a composite material made of sand, cement and cellulose fibers. They have a high resistance to fire, water, moisture, heat, humidity and termites. Hence, they are ideal for both internal and external uses. They can be used for false ceiling, wall paneling, and also for creating internal dry wall partitions etc. The finish of the product is very aesthetically pleasing and can be used in their manufactured state itself. They can also be painted as per individual preferences.

Moisture Resistant Gypsum Board (MR Board)
Moisture resistant Gypsum Boards or also called as MR Boards are very similar to Gypsum Boards but have additional properties of moisture resistance. The core consists of aerated gypsum with water repellent additives and is firmly bonded with moisture resistant paper liners. Moisture resistant (MR) Gypsum Boards are suitable for dry lining internal surface areas such as bathrooms and kitchens. After installation, the joints are covered with Fibre Tape, Jointing compound and finished with Putty, Primer and Paint.

Fire Resistant Gypsum Board (FR Board)
Fire Resistant Boards or also known as FR boards are similar to Gypsum Boards but have a higher fire resistant property. The core of FR Boards consists of aerated gypsum, glass fiber, additives and is firmly bonded to strong Pink color paper liners. Fire resistant properties vary between 60 to 120 minutes depending on the thickness of fire resistance board and installation process. They can be used in both residential and commercial spaces such as Kitchens, Server rooms, Inverter rooms etc.

Calcium Silicate Board
Calcium silicate board is a weather resistant and an asbestos free insulating material made from siliceous materials and calcium materials. They have excellent thermal, heat, fire and sound insulation properties. Calcium Silicate Boards have better properties when compared to Plywood, Gypsum Board, MDF board or any other wood composite boards available in the market. Thus, making it an ideal choice for dry construction whether it is for walls, partitions or false ceilings.

Magnesium Oxide (MgO) Board
Magnesium Oxide Board or also known as MgO Board is made from magnesium sulphate, Magnesium chloride and additives. They are mainly used for Soundproofing walls and ceiling. Magnesium oxide Board is an Eco-friendly building product that has excellent Fire resistance, Water resistance and Thermal resistance properties. They can be used for Wall paneling, Partitions and False ceiling. With High reflective and Sound proofing properties, they are ideal for Theaters, Home Theaters and Recording studios.

PVC False Ceiling and Wall Plank
PVC False Ceiling Planks give a wood like finish and can be used horizontally or vertically on both ceilings and walls. They are available in 3 colors – Teak wood, Pine Wood and White. Jitex PVC False Ceiling Planks can be used for both domestic and commercial spaces. These PVC False Ceiling planks can be used in bathrooms, kitchens or any room in the house; ideally used in rooms where the level of moisture is very less or the space has poor ventilation facility in order to give the room a very clean fresh look.

GRID FALSE CEILING
Grid False Ceiling or also known as T-Grid Ceiling is different when compared to Gypsum Board false ceiling. The framework consists of a Modular grid work of channels in the shape of an upside down T. A typical T-Grid Framework consists of 4 channels – Main T, Cross T – 2ft, Cross T – 4ft and Wall Angle. After installing these 4 components through an interlocking feature, a 2ft x 2ft or 2ft x 4ft Grid system is created on to which the desired False ceiling tile is placed.When compared to traditional false ceiling, Grid false ceiling provides the advantage of easy maintenance. The False ceiling tiles can be easily removed and replaced for any sort of maintenance work. Also, most of the false ceiling tiles come with a Pre-finished surface; Hence, no form of finish is required when compared to Gypsum board false ceiling or any other kind of false ceiling. They are ideal for all types of commercial spaces and Bathrooms in residential spaces.

MINERAL FIBER ACOUSTIC FALSE CEILING TILE
Mineral Fiber Acoustic Ceiling tiles are made from a mixture of Mineral wool, Fiber glass and additives. They come with a layer of vinyl coating, which makes it easy to clean on a regular basis. They are the most common Grid False ceiling tiles used in commercial spaces. They have good Acoustic Treatment properties with fire and humidity resistance up to a certain extent. Does my house need a false ceiling?
False ceiling completely depends on your preferences. Apart from improving the aesthetics of the room, False ceiling has other advantages such as hiding beams, electrical conduit pipes, AC ducts, Fire line pipes etc. Not only that, False ceiling also provides resistance towards Heat, water, moisture and Thermal; and have very good Acoustic Treatment properties as well. False Ceiling clubbed with an insulation material helps in reducing the heat up to 6 to 7 degrees.
What is the life of False Ceiling?
Under normal conditions, any kind of False ceiling has a minimum life of 10+ years provided that they conform to the following conditions:
1. The False ceiling boards or Ceiling tiles used are of high quality.
2. The GI or T Grid channels are of a thick Guage.
3. The channels installed should be placed closely at a distance of not more than 2 feet.
4. The installation team should be well experienced.
